Personnel Management for Fire and Emergency Services
This course examines relationships and issues in personnel administration and human resource development within the context of fire-related organizations, including personnel management, organizational development, productivity, recruitment and selection, performance management systems, discipline, and collective bargaining.

At the end of this course, you should be able to function effectively in a comprehensive personnel management system for the fire and emergency services.

Alignment with departmental program outcomes is indicated in parentheses. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

1. Identify and explain contemporary personnel management issues. (PO 1, 2, 4, 5)

2. Explain potential personnel management issues. (PO 1, 2, 4, 5)

3. Classify the collective rules, procedures, laws, policies that relate to personnel management issues. (PO 1, 2, 4, 5)

4. Analyze simple/complex personnel management issues from recruitment to retirement. (PO, 1, 2, 3, 4)

5. Formulate recommendations and solutions to personnel management issues. (PO 4, 5)

6. Explore organizational development and leadership styles and how they relate to personnel relationships. (PO 1, 2)

Located on the Daytona Beach Campus, the Jack R. Hunt Library is the primary library for all students of the Worldwide Campus. The Chief Academic Officer strongly recommends that every faculty member, where appropriate, require all students in his or her classes to access the Hunt Library or a comparable college-level local library for research. The results of this research can be used for class projects such as research papers, group discussion, or individual presentations. Students should feel comfortable with using the resources of the library.
