Facilities & Construction Capstone
Students will demonstrate knowledge learned throughout the concentration of Facilities or Construction Management coursework. The theories learned will be applied to real work and project issues. Students will develop cost, time, safety and quality plans for a project.
After completing this course, students are able to demonstrate a comprehensive level of knowledge learned throughout the Facilities or Construction Management coursework.
Upon course completion, students will be able to:1. Apply management skills and decisions as they relate to the preplanning and control process of an actual project.2. Understand the preparation of project manuals, estimates, and presentation of work.3. Demonstrate analysis techniques used throughout the design and construction planning process to assure project constructability and maximum project value.4. Discuss Value engineering, life cycle cost analysis, and quality control systems used in the planning of Construction and Facilities projects.5. Plan for construction or maintenance through the development of the time schedule, work packaging and project start-up procedures.6. Demonstrate communication and presentation skills.7. Utilize related software to analyze and prepare project manuals and related components.
Located on the Daytona Beach Campus, the Jack R. Hunt Library is the primary library for all students of the Worldwide Campus. The Chief Academic Officer strongly recommends that every faculty member, where appropriate, require all students in his or her classes to access the Hunt Library or a comparable college-level local library for research. The results of this research can be used for class projects such as research papers, group discussion, or individual presentations. Students should feel comfortable with using the resources of the library.
