Aviation Maintenance Management: A Global Perspective
The curriculum within this course provides a comprehensive examination of maintenance policies, procedures and practices employed in the management of aviation maintenance programs in a global, multiorganizational industry. Emphasis is placed on all aspects of maintenance management, including organizational management, planning, forecasting, cost control, reliability, flight scheduling, and safety.

Students will understand the complexities of aviation maintenance and the programs integrated into a global, aviation maintenance program. Students will understand the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing and contract maintenance vs, maintenance facilitated in-house. Students will recognize the benefits of maintenance resource management (MRM) and safety management integrated into all aspects of comprehensive, aviation maintenance program.

Upon course completion, students will be able to:1. Explain the policies, practices, and procedures of aircraft maintenance including general, airframe and power plant.2. Interpret and apply the national and international regulatory requirements of aviation maintenance in a global, multi-organizational environment.3. Evaluate the various elements of the Maintenance Steering Group (MSG) program and how they relate to large aircraft maintenance program development.4. Comprehend and analyze the concept of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and demonstrate how a continuous airworthiness maintenance program (CAMP) is integrated into the operations specification (OpSpec) plan.5. Compare and contrast concepts in aviation maintenance management to predict aircraft structures, systems and components reliability, forecast scheduled maintenance action and determine how these concepts can promote cost savings.6. Assess the organizational structure of a typical aircraft maintenance organization and the method by which it is integrated into the overall corporation.7. Formulate a cost analysis of the direct and indirect benefits of integrating a comprehensive aviation safety program into all aspects of aviation maintenance and assess the challenges of implementing a maintenance resource program (MRM) in a multi-cultural workforce.8. Determine aviation maintenance record keeping and documentation requirements and understand the legal and ethical ramifications of maintenance documentation9. Assess the key elements of an aging aircraft program and how an effective repair assessment program (RAP) can extend the life-cycle of an aircraft.10. Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing and contract maintenance to airline conducted maintenance.11. Demonstrate appropriate selection and application of a research method and statistical analysis (where required), specific to the course subject matter.r.

Located on the Daytona Beach Campus, the Jack R. Hunt Library is the primary library for all students of the Worldwide Campus. The Chief Academic Officer strongly recommends that every faculty member, where appropriate, require all students in his or her classes to access the Hunt Library or a comparable college-level local library for research. The results of this research can be used for class projects such as research papers, group discussion, or individual presentations. Students should feel comfortable with using the resources of the library.
