Embry-Riddle at a Glance

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is the world’s oldest and largest fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace. A truly international institution, the University educates undergraduate and graduate students at its residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Florida, and Prescott, Arizona; at its Worldwide Campus locations around the globe; and through online learning.

Embry-Riddle offers its students a wide array of more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in aviation, aerospace, business, engineering, safety, security and intelligence, transportation, and related high-tech fields.

In just the last few years, the University launched its first Ph.D. degree programs, in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation, Engineering Physics, Human Factors, and Mechanical Engineering. The Aviation doctorate is the first of its kind in the nation. The four other doctoral degrees are the pinnacle of bachelor’s and master’s degrees in those same subjects. Embry-Riddle’s Aerospace Engineering program is the largest of its kind in the nation.  Two other new Ph.D. degree programs are in Aviation Business Administration and Electrical Engineering & Computer Science.

These new Ph.D. programs expand the applied research opportunities in which Embry-Riddle faculty and students assist the aviation/aerospace industry, government agencies, and others in meeting real-world challenges. Frequent research partners include the FAA, NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the U.S. Air Force.

The Daytona Beach and Prescott campuses host championship athletic teams that are winners both in sports and in the classroom.

Daytona Embry-RIdleDaytona Beach

The University’s 185-acre eastern campus in Daytona Beach is located next to Daytona Beach International Airport, only minutes from the Atlantic Ocean, and only an hour’s drive from Kennedy Space Center and Orlando.

The new College of Arts & Sciences building includes an observatory with the largest university-owned research telescope in the Southeast. A new residence hall was also completed recently. Other new buildings of note are the Jim W. Henderson Administration & Welcome Center and the James Hagedorn Aviation Complex. A new Student Union currently under construction will be the largest building on campus, will include a new Hunt Library, and will consolidate most student services in one location.

Bachelor’s degrees of note at the Daytona Beach Campus include Aerospace & Occupational Safety, Commercial Space Operations, Global Conflict Studies, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Science. Master’s degrees include Cybersecurity Engineering, Cybersecurity Management & Policy, Human Security & Resilience, and Unmanned & Autonomous Systems Engineering.

With active faculty advisement, student teams from the Daytona Beach Campus regularly take top honors in competitions hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International. Aeronautical Science students excel in annual flight competitions such as the women’s Air Race Classic and the National Intercollegiate Flying Association’s SAFECON event.

Prescott Embry-RiddlePrescott Campus

The university’s mile-high, 539-acre western campus is located in Prescott, Arizona. Extensive recreational facilities and opportunities in and near the campus include mountain biking, kayaking, skiing, and snowboarding.

The new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Education Center under construction houses 20 state-of-the-art labs dedicated to robotic systems, satellites, unmanned aerial systems, commercial aircraft, military aircraft, physics, chemistry, biology, and more. The building also contains classrooms, a multimedia center, a planetarium, and a supercomputer system. A new residence hall opened recently and a second is under construction. The campus is home to the world’s first College of Security & Intelligence, which offers bachelor’s degree programs in Cyber Intelligence & Security and Global Security & Intelligence Studies as well as a master’s degree in Security & Intelligence Studies; the Aerospace Experimentation & Fabrication Building; and the nation’s largest university-based Accident Investigation Lab.

The College of Aviation offers degrees for professional pilots with fixed-wing and rotary-wing options.  Student flight teams have won numerous national championships in NIFA SAFECON competitions, more than any other institution in the last decade, and rank highly in the women’s Air Race Classic. The Phi Beta Lambda student team has won 10 straight state championships and places highly in national competitions. The campus also hosts some unique programs within the university, including Forensic Biology, Forensic Psychology, Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination, Industrial Psychology and Safety, Wildlife Biology and a new program in Simulation Science, Games and Animation. 

Worldwide Embry-RiddleWorldwide Campus

The Worldwide Campus provides educational opportunities for working civilian and military professionals. Its academic programs are offered at more than 125 locations in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East and through Web-based online learning. Based on their unique requirements, students can switch between instruction modes – classroom students can select online courses, and deployed military students can shift from classroom to 100% online course delivery. With Worldwide’s new EagleVision technology, students at different geographical locations can receive instruction at the same time.
