LAR 101  Arabic I  3 Credits (3,0)

Elementary oral-aural introduction to Arabic, including such topics as courtesy phrases, basic vocabulary, and patterns for questions and answers. Not open to students with two or more years of high-school instruction or the equivalent, or native speakers of the language.

LAR 102  Arabic II  3 Credits (3,0)

A continuation of LAR 101.
Prerequisites: LAR 101.

LAR 199  Special Topics in Arabic Language  1-3 Credit

Individual independent or directed studies of selected topics in the Arabic Language.

LAR 201  Arabic III  3 Credits (3,0)

A continuation of LAR 102.
Prerequisites: LAR 102.

LAR 202  Arabic IV  3 Credits (3,0)

A continuation of LAR 201.
Prerequisites: LAR 201.

LAR 299  Special Topics in Arabic Language  1-3 Credit

Individual independent or directed studies of selected topics in the Arabic Language.

LAR 301  Arabic V  3 Credits (3,0)

A new intermediate Arabic Language and Culture course. A continuation of LAR 202. The course focuses on the continuing improvement in all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing and introduces the students to the culture of countries and regions where Arabic is spoken. MSA will be the exclusive medium of communication in the classroom with few exceptions when explaining a complicated grammar or cultural concepts, English might be used.
Prerequisites: LAR 202.

LAR 302  Arabic VI  3 Credits (3,0)

An upper Intermediate Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) course and it continues to introduce students to the major points of Modern Standard Arabic grammar and a working vocabulary. The course is a continuation of LAR 301, which is a prerequisite to enroll in LAR 202.

Individual independent or directed studies of selected topics in the Arabic language.

LAR 499  Special Topics in Arabic Language  1-6 Credit

Individual independent or directed studies of selected topics in the Arabic language.
