Continuous Enrollment
Students are considered to be continuously enrolled, regardless of the number of credit hours registered, as long as they remain enrolled in at least one Embry-Riddle course beyond the drop period within a specified period of time. Continuous enrollment is required to maintain catalog rights and active student status.
Students lose continuous enrollment status and must reapply for admission under the catalog in effect at the time of their return if they:
- Fail to enroll in and complete at least one Embry-Riddle course beyond the drop period within a one-year period from the end of their last Worldwide or Asia course; two years for residential campuses.
- Enroll at another institution without advance written approval. Once admitted to Embry-Riddle as degree candidates, students are expected to complete all work with the University unless advance written authorization is granted. If applicants fail to disclose on their applications for admission that they are currently attending another school, or if they decide to take courses outside of Embry-Riddle after they have applied and been admitted, that credit won’t be considered for transfer unless they have obtained prior written authorization from Embry-Riddle.
- Have been suspended or dismissed from the University.
- Have completed an Embry-Riddle bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree. Students who pursue an additional degree of the same rank (either undergraduate or graduate) may be permitted to do so without reapplying.
- Are students who do not complete the degree requirements of their program within seven years from the date of admission or seven years from the date of readmission.
Students meeting any of these conditions are required to reapply for admission. Previously completed ERAU coursework will be evaluated upon reentry, and catalog requirements in effect at the time of readmission will apply.
Active-Duty Military Students
Daytona Beach and Prescott
Students who have been deployed by the military may extend their Continuing Student status by providing the campus Office of the Registrar with a letter, accompanied by military documentation, at least once each academic year. Under normal circumstances, the deployed students will have their “Continuing Student Status” extended by six months from the date documented by the departure/return endorsements on their military orders.
Worldwide & Online
Active-duty military undergraduate students may maintain continuous student status through one of the following, provided they occur within a one-year period and are applicable toward degree completion:
- Passing a nationally recognized exam (e.g., CLEP, DSST)
- Completing non-traditional education (e.g., military courses or occupations documented on service transcripts and reviewed by the American Council on Education).
- Completing a course at another institution with prior written approval.
Active-duty students may also submit a waiver request to establish or reestablish continuous enrollment. These requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
