The College of Arts and Sciences is home to outstanding degree programs and is the primary provider of the university’s general education program. Our undergraduate majors include Aerospace Physiology, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Communication, Computational Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Global Conflict Studies, Intelligence and Homeland Security, Human Factors Psychology, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Space Physics. At the graduate level, the College offers Master of Science degrees in Data Science, Engineering Physics, and Human Factors, as well as Ph.D. programs in Engineering Physics and Human Factors. The College also offers many minors that complement work in students’ majors to help them individualize their programs.
In the College of Arts and Sciences, we pride ourselves in providing high-quality educational opportunities to all ERAU students. We seek to inspire a lifelong love of learning; an appreciation of the cultural, intellectual, and historical impact of the search for truth and knowledge; and the opportunity for professional specialization. Our goal is to teach students the necessary skills to communicate clearly, to understand the logic of mathematics and the methods of scientific inquiry, and to understand their cultural heritage and that of others. We help our students foster their ability to think independently, to accept responsibility, to interact with people of different backgrounds and opinions, to assess ideas, to challenge orthodoxies, and to provide constructive and informed criticism to achieve the intellectual, ethical, and aesthetic maturity expected of educated citizens.
The College supports beyond-the-classroom experiences that enhance learning, including cooperative education, industry internships, study abroad, and meaningful engagement in undergraduate research. The College additionally participates in the university Honors Program by delivering a variety of Honors Seminars, as well as specialized courses that are embedded in the honors program. Nationally and internationally renowned faculty and their research programs provide students with hands-on opportunities for graduate and undergraduate engagement.
The College of Arts and Sciences is also home to Air Force, Army, and Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC). These ROTC programs give students opportunities to receive military training while pursuing a baccalaureate degree. Several significant scholarships are available for students interested in these excellent programs.
