High School Graduates

Embry-Riddle acknowledges that full-time employment experiences often provide the motivation and discipline to be a successful student in college. If a student’s academic career has been interrupted due to personal or financial reasons, employment, the care of dependents, or serving time in the U.S. military, Embry-Riddle considers the student a nontraditional applicant and recognizes that his/her high school academic record may not accurately reflect the student’s ability. An official high school transcript, or equivalent, will be required for consideration of admission. For applicants with educational experience outside of the United States, refer to the International Admissions requirements. 

Review the applicant categories listed below to review admission requirements. Non-traditional students often have other sources of credit they wish to have reviewed during the admission process and are advised to submit all documentation for possible transfer or advanced standing credit prior to admission. This includes, but is not limited to credit from military sources, national exams, FAA licenses or ratings (or the foreign equivalent), or other documented learning. Refer to Transfer/Advanced Standing Credit policies for sources of possible credit.

Applicants Under the Age of 20

The following documentation is required for consideration of admission for all applicants under the age of 20, who have not served in the United States military and are not a transfer student:

  • Application for admission
  • Non-refundable application fee
  • Official high school transcript or equivalent (GED®, HiSET® or TASC®) with a 2.5 unweighted GPA or higher assessed on a 4.0 scale, reflecting the following coursework:
    • Four years of English
    • Three years of college preparatory mathematics; four years preferred
    • Three years of social science
    • Two years of science, including a laboratory science; three years preferred  
  • Official transcripts from all postsecondary, accredited degree-granting institutions, if applicable
  • Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) scores, if applicable

ACT and/or SAT scores are optional but strongly encouraged. While an essay, resume, and two letters of recommendation are not required for admission, they may help us to assess your qualifications. If submitting an essay, you’re encouraged to submit 300-500 words outlining your career goals and how Embry-Riddle will assist in attaining those goals. Resumes can include your academic and extracurricular activities, awards, honors, employment, etc. Letters of recommendation should be from a school counselor, teacher, or employer.

Applicants Age 20 and Older

Applicants age 20 and older who are not classified as a transfer student or have not served in the US military must provide the following documentation:

  • Application for admission
  • Non-refundable application fee
  • Official high school transcript or equivalent (GED®, HiSET® or TASC®) with a 2.5 unweighted GPA or higher assessed on a 4.0 scale
  • Official transcripts from all postsecondary, accredited degree-granting institutions attended, if applicable, with a minimum of a 2.0 CGPA on a 4.0 scale

Applicants with Military Experience

Applicants with United States military experience, but no college transfer credit must provide the following documentation:

  • Application for admission
  • Non-refundable application fee
  • Official military transcripts showing documentation of service (e.g. Community College of the Air Force or Joint Services Transcript) may be accepted in lieu of an official high school transcript or equivalent 
  • Additional documentation may be requested for advanced standing credit

Optional Items

In addition to submitting the required documents listed above, students may also choose to submit the following optional items for consideration.

  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Essay
  • Resume

NOTE: Embry-Riddle does not offer Career Pathway Programs therefore there are no Ability-to-Benefit testing options for students who do not currently have a high school diploma or GED.
