Minor in Research Foundations

The Minor in Research Foundations provides students with a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of effective research across disciplines. Through a structured progression, students learn to identify, evaluate, and synthesize academic sources; engage critically with scholarly literature; and apply both traditional and technology-supported research methods to develop defensible, evidence-based analyses. The minor emphasizes ethical considerations in research and system design, project planning skills, and exposure to multiple forms of scientific inquiry through disciplinary perspectives. Designed for students interested in undergraduate research or careers that value discovery, analytical rigor, and evidence-based decision-making, this minor supports a wide range of professional paths across industries and fields.

Some majors may not be eligible to pair with this minor. See the Minor Restrictions list for details.
