Minor in Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS) Operation
The Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Operation minor will provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) specific to the safe, responsible, and effective operation and application of small uncrewed aircraft systems (sUAS). The goal is to give students an opportunity to work towards an sUAS operator certification within the framework of the university’s academic setting. While core content required for successful completion of FAA theoretical knowledge testing will be provided, the minor also aims to build some operational experience and skills beyond the basic scope of FAA certification, thus, expanding the student’s KSAs in planning, execution, and support of sUAS operation.
Eligibility:
Students declaring the sUAS Operation Minor must be physically located within the U.S. while participating in the UNSY 435 and UNSY 440 courses, have access to a sUAS with which to train, and hold a current FAA Part 107 Certification.
Important Notes:
1) Students must contact their Academic Advisor regarding additional cost, required travel, and FAA Testing, prior to enrolling in the first course of this minor.
2) Courses must be taken in the sequence as outlined in the requirements.
Some majors may not be eligible to pair with this minor. See the Minor Restrictions list for details.
