Current High School Students

The University defines a first-year applicant as one who is applying for degree status directly from high school. The University offers admission to applicants who present an academic record that demonstrates their ability to graduate. The university considers overall academic performance, grade point average (GPA), course load, rank in class (if available), selected major, letters of recommendation and standardized test scores (if applicable). Admitted students usually present more than the minimum requirements.

Admission requirements may vary between technical and non-technical programs and may require an applicant to have additional courses, demonstrate a higher GPA, meet other special requirements, and/or submit additional documentation. For applicants with educational experience outside of the United States, refer to the International Admissions requirements.

The university expects all applicants to have completed by high school graduation the following coursework, at a minimum: 

  • Four years of English 
  • Three years of college preparatory mathematics; four years preferred 
  • Three years of social science 
  • Two years of science, including a laboratory science; three years preferred  

Applicants must submit the following documentation to be considered for admission: 

  • Application for admission 
  • Non-refundable application fee 
  • Official high school transcript or equivalent (GED®, HiSET®, or TASC®) 
  • Official transcripts from all postsecondary, accredited degree-granting institutions reflecting dual enrollment credit, if applicable 
  • Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) scores, if applicable 

Optional Items

  • Two letters of recommendation 
  • Essay 
  • Resume 
  • ACT and/or SAT scores (strongly recommended)

ACT and/or SAT scores are optional but strongly encouraged. While an essay, resume, and two letters of recommendation are not required for admission, they may help us to assess your qualifications. Resumes can include your academic and extra-curricular activities, awards, honors, employment, etc. Letters of recommendation should be from a school counselor, teacher, or employer.

Worldwide Campus

In addition to the previously stated requirements, current high school students must demonstrate a minimum 2.5 unweighted high school GPA on a 4.0 scale for non-technical programs and a 3.0 unweighted high school GPA on a 4.0 scale for technical programs. 

NOTE: Current high school students admitted to the Worldwide Campus will be permitted to enroll in coursework no sooner than the July term of their graduation year. An official, final high school transcript with all grades posted demonstrating continued academic progress and graduation must be submitted to Embry-Riddle within the first term of enrollment. ERAU Worldwide Campus students located in the state of California are required to submit an official, final high school transcript prior to enrolling in coursework.
