B.S. in Aerospace Engineering to M.S. in Human Factors

This program allows the exceptional student to complete the Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering (BSAE) and Master of Science in Human Factors (MSHF) degrees at the Daytona Beach campus.

Upon completing the undergraduate requirements, the Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering will be conferred, and students will be enrolled in the graduate degree. In any graduate course taken by an undergraduate student, a grade of “B” or better must be earned. These credits will count toward the undergraduate and graduate degree requirements, provided the student maintains enrollment in the combined program and receives a "B" or better in the courses.

If the student chooses to leave the program before the completion of the MSHF program and has acquired the minimal hours required for graduation with the B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, any MSHF transition courses used to meet graduation requirements will be noted as undergraduate courses for the purpose of graduation.

Approved Courses for the Combined Program

Students enrolled in the combined option must consult their academic advisor and the MSHF program coordinator to determine appropriate course selection. Students will take HFCT 510 and/or HFCT 511 to replace an equal number of Technical Elective courses in the BSAE degree.

This program does not require any Human Factors courses to be completed prior to application. It is recommended that HFCT 510 Research Design and Analysis I and HFCT 511 Research Design and Analysis II be taken during the fall and spring semesters of their undergraduate senior year so as not to delay the completion of the MSHF degree.

Combined Program Requirements

Students must fulfill the required MSHF core classes and any remaining courses from the transitional period that have not been completed.

Additional Notes

For students participating in internships, a maximum of two (2) Worldwide online courses (HFCT) may be taken that would be applicable toward the student's Daytona Beach MSHF degree. Prior approval from the HF Graduate Program Coordinator is required for each course option.

HFCT 606 for HFCT 620, HFCT 624 for HFCT 515, HFCT 612 or HFCT 621 for electives. A Worldwide waiver may be required.

These options are being provided to ERAU BSAE/MSHF students interested in interning with Industry, especially during the summer months. It is envisioned that students interning not-for-credit (HFCT 690), interning for credit (COIN 696), or interning not-for-credit while researching/working on their Thesis (HFCT 700) can potentially take a WW course to maximize their opportunity to complete the MSHF degree within a two (2) year timeframe.
