B.S. in Intelligence and Homeland Security (DB) to M.S. in Human Security and Resilience (WW)
Exceptional students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Intelligence and Homeland Security (BSIHS) degree program at Daytona Beach College of Arts and Sciences have the opportunity to pursue the Worldwide Master of Science in Human Security and Resilience (MSHSR) in a combined degree program format.
Upon completing the undergraduate requirements, the Bachelor of Science degree in Intelligence and Homeland Security will be conferred, and students will be enrolled in the graduate degree. In any graduate course taken by an undergraduate student, a grade of “B” or better must be earned. These credits will count toward the undergraduate and graduate degree requirements, provided the student maintains enrollment in the combined program and receives a "B" or better in the courses. Students will be dropped from the program if their GPA falls below 3.0. The BSIHS degree will be conferred upon completion of all bachelor's degree requirements; the MSHSR degree will be conferred upon completion of all master's degree requirements.
If the student chooses to leave the program before the completion of the MSHSR program and has acquired the minimal hours required for graduation with the B.S. in Intelligence and Homeland Security, any MSHSR transition courses used to meet graduation requirements will be noted as undergraduate courses for the purpose of graduation.
Approved Courses for the Combined Program
Students enrolled in the combined option must consult their academic advisor to determine appropriate course selection. The following graduate-level MSHSR courses can be taken to satisfy the BSIHS requirements:
- MHSR 530 Environmental Security can be taken in lieu of HLSC 290 Environmental Security
- MHSR 520 Conflict Resolution can be taken in lieu of HLSC 320 Law and Policy
- Any 500-level MHSR course can be taken in lieu of the BSIHS 300/400-level elective
