Practice of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Digital content analysis; statistical analysis; interviewing; survey research.
SOSC 210 Introduction to Sociology 3 Credits (3,0)
Immersion in the culture and language of a specific region. Language training, cultural exploration, and field trips to historical sites.
SOSC 214 Culture, History and Language I 3 Credits (3,0)
Introduction to the culture and language of a region of the world through cultural immersion and a variety of communicative exercises. Language training is conducted entirely (or predominantly) in the language of the region of focus. Students cultivate elementary listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the foreign language as well as familiarity with the culture and history of the region. Moreover, field trips through various historical sites give students perspective on how the language and culture has developed over time.

These are individual independent or directed studies of selected topics in the areas of history, sociology, psychology, and human culture in general.

Exploration of public health principles and methodologies. Focus on community health, disease prevention, and health promotion with a critical analysis of global health solutions.
SOSC 304 Islam and Arabic Culture 3 Credits (3,0)
Exploration of Islam and Arabic culture. The Holy Quran and the Sunna as sources for legislation; lasting Pre-Islamic Arab moral and social teachings like the Bedouin code of ethics; the Quran as the principal source shaping Arabic character and aspirations.

Comprehensive analysis of the role of the court system within the criminal justice framework. Examination of judicial processes, legal decision-making, and the interaction between courts and other criminal justice institutions. Focus on the structure and function of state and federal courts and the impact of court rulings on criminal justice policy. Emphasis on the challenges facing the judicial system, including issues of fairness, access, and reform.

Survey of selected theories of human nature and functioning from psychodynamic to cognitive, behavioral, biological, and humanistic perspectives. Exploration of personality concepts and methodologies; application of theories to personal, professional, and relational life; theory-related skills for self-awareness, problem solving, habit change, and interpersonal competence.
