M.S. in Aviation and M.S. in Data Science

Daytona Beach Program Requirements

For exceptional students enrolled in the Master of Science in Aviation program, the College of Arts and Sciences offers the opportunity to simultaneously pursue a Master of Science in Data Science and a Master of Science in Aviation.

With this option, the student will complete 33 credits to earn a Master of Science in Aviation (MSAV) and an additional 21 credits to earn the Master of Science in Data Sciences (MSDS) degree. Nine (9) credits from the MSAV degree will count towards the MSDS’s total requirement of 30 credits. Bridge classes are taken to replace elective classes in the MSDS program. The student must declare their interest in the dual degree at or before completing 15 credits in the MSAV program.

The bridge classes include:

• AVSF 611 Aviation/Aerospace System Safety
• MSAV 608 Aviation/Aerospace Accident Investigation and Analysis
• MSAV 621 Aviation/Aerospace Safety Program Management 
• ASCI 604 Human Factors in the Aviation/Aerospace Industry
• or other courses can be approved on a case-by-case basis.

Graduate students may apply to the Dual MSAV-MSDS option by submitting an application to the MSDS’s program coordinator. Students must have completed up to 15 credit hours toward the respective MSAV degree and must have a 3.0 minimum GPA to be admitted to the dual degree program. Students will be dropped from the program if their GPA falls below 3.0.
